Shuffle Slide Behind Turn 90° Roll Out Slide In Both Feet - Fast Footwork Drills for U10-U11

Tutorial

This drill builds on the Roll Out Slide Behind Turn 90° (Static Ball Control Drills for U10-U11). This time the player has to incorporate shuffles and has to count differently on alternating turns (6-5-6-5-...) in order to use both feet. The player has to focus on counting in order to turn to the right direction and therefore has to rely on the new acquired automatisms.

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Shuffle 5 times. (starting with the left foot)
  2. On the sixth count, slide the ball with the right foot behind the left foot.
  3. Turn to the left 90°.
  4. Roll the ball outwards.
  5. Slide the ball back in which is the first count.
  6. Shuffle 3 times.
  7. On the fifth count, slide the ball with the left foot behind the right foot.
  8. Turn to the right 90° (starting point).
  9. Roll the ball outwards.
  10. Slide the ball back in which is the first count.
  11. Shuffle 4 times.
  12. On the sixth count, slide the ball with the left foot behind the right foot.
  13. Turn to the right 90°.
  14. Roll the ball outwards.
  15. Slide the ball back in which is the first count.
  16. Shuffle 3 times.
  17. On the fifth count, slide the ball with the right foot behind the left foot.
  18. Turn to the left 90° (starting point).
  19. Roll the ball outwards.
  20. Slide the ball back in which is the first count.
  21. Continue steps 1-20.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Try to stay around a fixed spot.
  2. This drill should be done in a perfect 'U'.
  3. Focus on technique first, then crank the speed up.
