Shuffle Drag Roll - Fast Footwork Drills for U10-U11

This drill builds on Drag Roll (Static Ball Control Drills for U8-U9).

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Stand behind the ball.
  2. Shuffle 3 times.
  3. On the fourth count, push the ball forward to the left (45° angle) with the inside of the right foot.
  4. At the same time:
    1. Let the ball roll towards the tip of the foot.
    2. Raise the right foot along the side of the ball.
  5. Pull the ball back when the ball or tip of the right foot is on top of the ball.
  6. Shuffle 3 times.
  7. Push the ball forward to the right (45° angle) with the inside of the left foot.
  8. At the same time:
    1. Let the ball roll towards the tip of the foot.
    2. Raise the left foot along the side of the ball.
  9. Pull the ball back when the ball or tip of the left foot is on top of the ball.
  10. Continue steps 2-9.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Receiving the ball after pulling counts as the first shuffle.
  2. Don't stand rigid on the legs but flex the knees a bit.
  3. The dragging and rolling should be a fluid motion.
  4. The leg and especially the foot should be stretched when the foot reaches the top of the ball.
