Shuffle Stop - Fast Footwork Drills for U6-U7

Shuffle Stop Tutorial

This exercise builds on the Shuffle.

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Shuffle the ball three times (in order to constantly switch feet) and on the fourth count, stop the ball with the left foot by means of a Toe Tap.
  2. The Shuffle starts again with the same left foot that stopped the ball.
  3. Now after three shuffles stop the ball on the fourth count with the right foot.
  4. The Shuffle starts again with the right foot and so on... (see step 1).

 Things to watch out for:

Jump in Rythm - Shuffle Stop

When players get more skilled in these kind of exercises, they will jump on their feet in a certain rhythm that feels natural to them.
You can notice that Lars is jumping with the opposite foot (the support foot) just after the Toe Tap to stay in that rhythm.
