Slide Behind Backwards - Dynamic Ball Mastery Drills for U10-U11

This drill builds on the Slide Behind (Static Ball Control Drills for U10-U11).

Similar drills are:

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Stand behind the ball.
  2. Roll the ball out with the right foot.
  3. Slide the ball behind the support foot with the right foot.
  4. At the same time:
    1. Roll the ball out with the left foot.
    2. Reposition the right foot backwards which becomes the support foot.
  5. Slide the ball behind the support foot with the left foot.
  6. At the same time:
    1. Roll the ball out with the right foot.
    2. Reposition the left foot backwards which becomes the support foot.
  7. Slide the ball behind the support foot with the right foot.
  8. Continue step 4-7.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Try to perform the drill as smooth as possible.
  2. Start slow and increase the speed when the move can be done flawlessly.
  3. Don't slide the ball forward behind the support foot.
  4. As soon as the foot performing the slide touches the ground, take over with the other foot.
