Reverse Cut Turn - Static Ball Control Drills for U12-U13

When starting with the right foot:

(Switch left and right below when starting with the left foot)

  1. Stand behind the ball.
  2. Take/push the ball forward with the laces of the right foot.
  3. Close in on the ball.
  4. Place the right foot (support foot) left of the ball.
  5. At the same time:
    1. Reach with the left foot over the ball to cut it at the back with the laces of the left foot.
    2. Lift the support foot (right foot).
  6. Position the right foot backwards to get into starting position.
  7. Take/push the ball forward with the laces of the left foot.
  8. Close in on the ball.
  9. Place the right foot (support foot) right of the ball.
  10. At the same time:
    1. Reach with the right foot over the ball to cut it at the back with the laces of the right foot.
    2. Lift the support foot (left foot).
  11. Position the left foot backwards to get into starting position.
  12. Continue steps 2-11.

Things to watch out for:

  1. Don't stand rigid on the legs but flex the knees a bit.
  2. Maintain a straight line.
  3. Timing is important. Place the support foot aside of the ball before the cut.
  4. Lift the support foot while reaching for the cut.
  5. Cut nicely at the back of the ball with the laces.
  6. Begin slow and increase the speed gradually.
